Meeting Puppies

We sometimes get asked why we don’t allow families that want to place a deposit to visit our pups. This is not surprising given the number of ‘what to do when buying a dog’ websites that advocate for visiting the breeder and meeting the parents first. The problem with these sites is their priority is the buyer, not the puppies’ or breeders’ health and safety.  Please remember that our pups are home raised – in rooms in our house.

We take our dogs and puppies health very seriously. Puppies' immune systems are very immature. An unsuspecting visitor could bring disease (parvovirus, distemper, etc) with them when visiting pups, the result of which could be the death of the entire litter. Our puppies' moms are also very sensitive when they are whelping pups. A stressed-out Mom can create stressed out pups. Mom becoming stressed will cause her body creates cortisol, which goes into the milk. The puppies consume this cortisol rich milk and become stressed themselves. Our parent dogs are either our personal family pets or a guardian homes personal family pet so their health is very important to us.

We don’t ‘own’ the puppies and we are simply a guardian home until they go to their forever homes. However, we have been entrusted with the care of these puppies for the first critical weeks of their lives. As a guardian of other peoples’ dogs, we must do everything we can to protect them.

We thank you for your understanding that we will not compromise on the health and safety of our puppies and dogs.
